About the Eugene Pet Nanny
Hi there! My name is Tasha Roberts and I am excited to share my story with you...
I have never had to question my purpose. Ever since I can remember I have felt a strong duty to help and serve animals. To give them a voice, to provide them a second chance, to educate those around me and to build an army of dedicated rescue workers to fight and protect those who are unable to protect themselves. At age 17 I founded a local non-profit rescue organization, Life 9 Rescue. Since incorporation. Life 9 Rescue has rescued, spayed/neutered and rehabilitated nearly 2,000 homeless, abused and neglected felines in Lane County! Over 1,000 of which, I trapped/rescued/fostered personally. From caring for orphan neonates to providing love and comfort to those making their journey over the rainbow bridge, to investing months of love and patience into socializing truly feral cats, teaching them to trust humans for the very first time... the amount of knowledge, experience, skill and understanding that I have gained has been truly invaluable. |
At age 18 I began my work in the veterinary field as an Animal Care Technician and Surgical Assistant at our local Humane Society. I later advanced to my position as Veterinary Assistant in private practice (8 years total).
While working in private practice I formed very strong bonds and relationships with the doctors, the clients, and their cherished little family members. It was then that I began petsitting, providing supportive in-home/nursing care -- after several clients expressed the peace of mind it would bring them. I took great pride in this. To me, there is no greater honor than that of being entrusted with the care of 'someone' so incredibly precious and irreplaceable. After all, our pets are our family. They are our children. For some families, their pets are the only children they have ever known. Over the years I found myself always wishing there were more hours in the day, wishing I didn't have to work my pet sitting visits around a full time job. I always wished that this was my full time job.
In June of 2017, I decided to follow my heart, resign from my position as Veterinary Assistant and pursue my passion of providing in-home nursing care and pet sitting services full time! That is when Eugene Pet Nanny was born. With no longer having to work around a full time job, I am able to be there for my pet parents and fur-friends like never before - with extended hours I have the ability to accommodate nearly any care routine. From late night and early morning visits to accommodate insulin schedules, to mid-day visits for Doggy Lunch Dates, or hospice fur-babies who require visits 4 or 5 times a day and everything in between!
Unlike many in this field of work, I am not a “hobbiest” pet sitter. This not something that I do “on the side.” Eugene Pet Nanny is my life’s work. It is what I do all day, everyday. My life revolves around of the care of my extended fur-family and I truly couldn’t imagine having it any other way!
